Shambhala Office of Culture & Decorum

The Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo have established the Shambhala Office of Culture and Decorum and have appointed Sangyum Wendy Friedman to be its director. Each Shambhala Center has its own Director of Culture and Decorum. The creation of this office follows the edict of the Sakyong Wangmo, “The garland that binds the kingdom,” promulgated on the occasion of her empowerment in August 2008.

“Let the decorum of our kingdom radiate from all our centers and groups, and from our own way of being,” the edict says. “Let the environments of our mandala represent our lineage, through our symbols, imagery, decor and pristine condition. Let them express, in all their details, the meaning and power of Shambhala. May the blessings and presence of the Sakyong be palpable everywhere. Let our decorum as practitioners shine through our disciplined, compassionate and wise ways, always supporting the priceless gem of the teachings and practices we hold.”
