Private Poetry Unveiled

by A’nji Sings
A Poet often writes from the heart of things both internal and external to our human experience. It can be true, honest and private.

The poets of the Meetup group “Private Poetry Unveiled” met at the Shambhala Meditation Center of Atlanta on Sept. 10, 2015 to do just that. We shared our joys, sorrow and our passions.

Some admitted they came out of curiosity, not knowing what to expect at a meditation center, viewing it as a sacred place where only hushed voices are allowed, much like their own inner thoughts.

We closed with our ritual “Group Poetry” session where everyone is invited to contribute a line out loud. Even innocent utterances make their way into the poem, lending itself to a surprisingly fun activity that makes everyone an official poet by the end of the evening!

The following  poem – “Peace”  – is a result of our efforts.

Everyone, including myself, would like to thank the Shambhala Meditation Center for giving us an opportunity to creatively occupy the space of the Diamond Temple.

Peace

Group Poetry at Shambhala Meditation of Atlanta – 9/9/15

Oh No
I didn’t hear that
Why do you make me…?

Peace is everlasting or so it seems
Just so you know, keeping your head down doesn’t work

Peace, War
Peace, wonder what it would be like

Ummm,
Peace is something that I dream of

What’s the subject? I thought it changed

I pray for peace, I pray for a peaceful day and its peace that I have

Peace is not a reality

Peace is fighting for tomorrow’s dream

I met peace, he lives on hollow ground

See we always have one that has to go way down deep

Peace is the love between my flesh and my soul
Peace is within me, as I sit and absorb myself in such beautiful people

Peace, I hear stillness and silence The quietness of the morning When we increase the peace

Maybe the crime will decrease That’s my peace
To not be influenced by chaos Peace, the final frontier

Peace be still…
