Shambhala Day - Year of the Earth Boar

February 5th

Date details +

The Year of the Earth Boar is connected with simplicity, care, and the trustworthiness of earth. This feels so timely for our Shambhala community, to relax into the good roots of our lineage - of deep buddhist practice, and caring sangha.

Shambhala Day marks the beginning of the New Year and represents one of the most important cultural traditions in Shambhala. The day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycle. Shambhala Day is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through practice, the lhasang smoke offering and conviviality.

This year we will have a live broadcast from Halifax and Dechen Chöling that will include group practice led by Acharya Christie Cashman, videos from around the mandala.  A recording will be shown Tuesday evening

Everyone is warmly welcome to celebrate with us on Tuesday, February 5th at the Center.
