Appropriate for both those aspiring to take the refuge vow, as well as those curious and interested but not yet ready to take this formal step. Participants will be encouraged to engage in a personal way with foundational Buddhist teachings such as the Four Noble Truths and the Four Seals, Buddhist teachings on ethical conduct, and the role of vows in the Buddhist path.

    This class will help you:

    • Learn about the foundations of Buddhism and how relevant these teachings can be to our lives.
    • Enter the holiday season helping yourself so that you can be more kind and generous to others.

This class is the recommended preparation for those who wish to take the formal refuge vow that will be offered with Acharya John Rockwell. The ceremony will be sometime between December 26 - 31 and will be announced soon.

“In the Buddhist tradition, the purpose of taking refuge is to awaken from confusion and associate oneself with wakefulness… When we take refuge, we commit ourselves to the Buddhist path.” – Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
